The Danger of Jumping to Conclusions
April 19th 2013 | Deron Andre
We have all watched the coverage of the Boston Marathon Bombings and the subsequent investigation and manhunt. Many of us also watched in disbelief as the media speculated, and in some cases seemed to be wishing, that the perpetrators were homegrown anti-tax or anti-government extremists (described invariably by the pundits as "right-wing" extremists). Is the mainstream media in this country incapable of waiting for the facts to come out? Is there something wrong about simply hoping and praying that, whoever the barbarians were that committed this heinous act, they be captured and brought to justice before more innocent people are hurt or killed? Now that the suspects have been identified and appear to be radical Jihadists, you would think that the American media had learned a lesson about the dangers of jumping to conclusions. For some reason, I doubt that they have.
